St. Cloud State’s Hymlárová Drafted by PWHL Minnesota
Klára Hymlárová selected 15th overall, becomes first Husky PWHL draft pick
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Former St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey forward Klára Hymlárová (Opava, Czech Rebublic) was selected by PWHL Minnesota in the 3rd round (15th overall) of the 2024 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) draft on Monday at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul. Hymlárová is the first Husky to be selected since the inauguration of the PWHL Draft in 2023.
A two-time assistant captain, Hymlárová ended her five-year career in a Huskies sweater in 2023-24 with 36 goals and 53 assists for 89 points in 142 collegiate games. She compiled four Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) weekly awards in her career including one Forward of the Week nod in 2023-24 after being named Most Outstanding Player at the 2023 Ice Breaker after leading the Huskies to the title with a natural hat trick in the Championship Game and three Rookie of the Week selections in 2019-20. She also earned WCHA Rookie of the Month honors in December 2019 and was named to the 2019-20 WCHA All-Rookie Team.
Hymlárová is well-known on the international circuit as a leader on the Czechia Senior National Team, earning two Bronze medals at the World Championships (2022, 2023) while appearing in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. In total, she has represented Czechia seven times at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) and three times at the IIHF U18 World Junior Championships (2015, 2016, 2017).

2023-24 Season Wrap-Up
The 2023-24 version of the St. Cloud State Huskies wrapped up this month. The program, which was ranked No. 10 in the country heading into the postseason, lost in quarterfinal round play to No. 8 Minnesota Duluth.
The Huskies finish the season with a 17-17-2 record, navigating the difficult WCHA schedule that featured a win over No. 1 Ohio State. In the game, goaltender Sanni Ahola made 46 saves to propel the Huskies to the win. Ahola’s performance was indicative of her season as she was named the WHCA Goaltender of the Year (more on that below).
Ahola named WCHA Goaltender of the Year
Goaltender Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) has been named the WCHA Goaltender of the Year following her performance during the 2023-24 season.
This season for the Huskies, Ahola played in 17 games, going 10-6-1. Ahola posted 5 shutouts on the season across 1013.27 minutes in net. Ahola made 417 saves and let in 29 goals in those 17 games. This season, Ahola posted a .935 save percentage and a 1.72 goals against average. Ahola also picked up one assist in the Huskies 6-2 win over Bemidji State for her second career point.
Ahola was selected for the All-WCHA First team, HCA Goaltender of the Month in September, October, and December, WCHA Goaltender of the Month in October and December, and was awarded WCHA Goaltender of the Week once in September, October, and December.
In addition, Ahola helped the Huskies take down top-ranked Ohio State by a score of 2-1 in December 2023. Ahola made 46 saves on 47 shots faced in the victory.
